Tin Whistle Tuesday Vol 4.

Welcome back to our Tin Whistle Tuesday newsletter. The holiday season is here, there’s no turning back now! As we wrap up another year, we wanted to thank you for supporting BC craft beer and particularly our small family-run brewery in the heart of the Okanagan Valley. It means the world to us to have your support ! From our family to yours, wishing you all the very best for the happiest holiday season.  -Alexis & Tim

Holiday Beer Pairings

We are bringing you a few beer and food pairing ideas to make holiday (aka family) visits, tables, and taste buds extra happy this year. We’re featuring Tin Whistle brews that are available province wide. Our Peach Cream Ale, Mythical Creatures Westcoast IPA, and Glorious Hazelnut Coffee Stout will all be easy to find at your local beer stop.

Beer and food are meant to be. We know everyone loves to talk about wine and food magic but beer always has a place on the pairing table. Dare we say, beer pairings might be more accessible and less intimidating than finding that perfect wine and food match? Beer goes with just about anything. When in doubt about matching food and beer, a charcuterie board is a good starting place - there is always enough variety on a charcuterie board to pair with almost any type of brew.  Read on for more tasty ideas to place alongside of your holiday feasts and snacks.

Fruity without being sweet, the peach flavours compliment anything with a bit of spice. Try alongside brussel sprouts tossed in maple syrup and a pinch of cayenne pepper, and salt. Roast them and serve with the seasoned poultry of your choice, and a cold Peach Cream Ale. This is also the beer for your salty snackies with your favourite holiday movie, or to replace the brunch mimosa. If you’re headed to the Grandma’s who always serves that jello or creamy fruit salad that you secretly love, pour this beer and enjoy.

This smooth pour with a loads of piney notes and fruity citrus hops calls to pair with pineapple honey-glazed ham. The IPA hoppy bitterness contrasts with the sweetness. Another way to pair this beer is to match the intensity of flavours. Fried food packed with flavour and spices is a nice match for the vibrant notes and bright hops in this can. Hosting a pot-luck appies night? Make sure this is in the fridge ready to go. Or consider matching it with slow-roasted brisket and pan-fried latkes for a lip-smacking, thirst-quenching, combo fit for the best at your table.

Not to be predictable, but you simply must try this beer with chocolate cake or truffles. It will also match beautifully with a cheese plate and fruit tart. Perhaps you’re looking for something indulgent this holiday season? If so, make yourself a Glorious Hazelnut Coffee Milk Stout vanilla ice cream float and enjoy it with a couple of Ferrero Rocher chocolates or slice of pecan pie. Match the rich, yet refreshing and lighter-than-expected, flavours of this pour with equally as rich foods.
